Welcome to the
Center for Transforming Learning and Teaching (CTLT)

Advancing 21st Century Standards-Based Practices

CTLT was established in 2003 at the University
of  Colorado Denver as an initiative within the
School of Education and Human Development to support educators across the state of Colorado.

Today, CTLT works with educators across the
US to catalyze and co-create the transformation
of learning environments through the use of
assessment so that all are engaged in learning and
empowered to positively contribute in a global
society.

CTLT pursues this mission by:

  • Creating and providing learning experiences to educators that promote immediate use of strategies and tools, as well as long term development of educational practice.

  • Coaching and embedding the use of assessment as a support for learning within classroom settings.

  • Planning, developing and facilitating professional learning communities.

  • Clarifying language and conceptual frameworks.

  • Developing, supporting and bringing forward models of practice.

  • Convening practitioners to bring out the best thinking.

  • Engaging educators at the intersection of theory and practice.

Formative Assessment

"It's a really good feeling to know that you have some control over your education, that it is not just in the fate of what you know and what you don't know. It is what you are going to do about it."
